Planned giving opportunities offer individuals the means to make a significant, long-term contribution to Saint Barnabas Medical Center. This option also offers outstanding tax benefits to the donor while providing important long-term support of Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
Planned giving includes wills, trusts, annuities, and gifts of property and assets. Those who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to Saint Barnabas through a planned gift are recognized as members of the Eliza Titus Society, named for the benefactor whose bequest created the first Hospital of Saint Barnabas.

A bequest is a gift (such as cash, stocks or property) made through a donor’s will or living trust. Through a bequest, individuals of modest means or of great wealth can make a gift of enduring value to future generations. A bequest can be used for the general benefit of the Medical Center or designated to benefit a specific program.
Bequests take various forms and can come from a variety of sources. Bequests can specify either a set dollar amount or a certain percentage of the value of your estate. With a residuary bequest, individuals can bequeath the remainder of their estate, or a percentage of the remainder, after all other beneficiaries have been paid. Bequests can be part of a will, living trust or a beneficiary designation on your retirement plan.
We would very much like to recognize your generosity and thank you for your bequest. If you would like to become a member of the Eliza Titus Society, simply inform us that you have included a gift to Saint Barnabas Medical Center Foundation in your will or living trust by calling Deborah Morrone-Colella at (973) 322-4330 and/or providing the page from your will or trust that lists Saint Barnabas Medical Center Foundation. If you prefer, you may remain anonymous even after notifying us about your bequest. While we would appreciate knowing about the nature of your gift, it is not necessary if you prefer otherwise.

A Charitable Gift Annuity is a way for donors to make a gift of lasting significance to Saint Barnabas while still retaining payments from the gift during their lives. It is a contract between The Saint Barnabas Medical Center Foundation and a donor in which the donor makes an irrevocable gift to the Foundation in exchange for guaranteed lifetime payments. The Foundation invests the gift until such time as it is no longer required to make the annuity payments. The remainder of the gift is used to support the mission of Saint Barnabas Medical Center or the program for which the donor designated support. The Gift Annuity will allow you to make a meaningful gift to support Saint Barnabas. It also has the advantage of a substantial income tax deduction in the year of the gift. There is a $10,000 minimum gift required to establish a Charitable Gift Annuity and the donor must be at least 55 years of age when the payments are to begin.
The staff of the Saint Barnabas Medical Center Foundation has the forms necessary to establish a Charitable Gift Annuity. Calculations indicating the payment rate, the amount and taxability of the payments, and the amount of the allowable income tax deduction will be provided upon request.
If you would like to establish a Charitable Gift Annuity, please contact Deborah Morrone-Colella at (973) 322-4330.
